I doubt this Blog will be a very long one. However I wanted to mark the occasion as this is a thrilling milestone. Cerys Bailey Art now has buisness cards!
A small milestone, it may be, but it has filled me with excitement nonetheless. I am so proud with how they’ve turned out that I ended up studying them for a long time after they arrived. I’ve said it before in another blog but as a digital artist (and a fairly new one at that), it’s very rare that I get to see my work in person. Therefore, it takes my breath away every time I get the chance.
I did the art for the cards, of course. I asked my mum to help out with the design aspect of it though. She’s a web designer and very good at this kind of thing. We talked about it and came up with several designs which didn’t really feel like me. Most of them seemed too stiff, like I was an arty lawyer or something. After both of us realising this, we wiped the slate clean and started again.
We realised that it should be fun and upbeat, which is what I try and give people through my art. We came up with one design, but we were both happy with this one this time. I set to work, drawing little cartoon me holding a giant sign horizontally. Once I’d finished that, mum set to work oganising the details I’d need to actually make it a buisness card.
She sorted that out quicker than I’d done the art, even though it took more shuffling and rearranging to find a layout that looked good. We decided it’d be fun to have a back to the cards too, which is when I remembered something I had been wanting to try for ages. I took the drawing of cartoon me, flipped it and drew my back. It was really interesting and I enjoyed drawing that more than drawing my front.
We spent a bit of time altering it, making sure it was perfect. Once we felt satisfied with what we had, the images were sent off to be printed. I almost felt anxious waiting for them to turn up.
They are exact front to back. Turning them over and over makes it look like the image has been pressed through the card.
Thank you to my mum for helping me. They look incredible and I’m so proud of them.
